The 29th Pennsylvania Infantry Monument at Gettysburg, pictured above in a drawing that appeared in the Philadelphia Inquirer in 1889, was actually the second monument to that regiment that was placed on the battlefield. A monument at Gettysburg to the 28th Pennsylvania Infantry is located on North Slocum Avenue near Culp’s Hill. It was originally dedicated by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 1885.
