Company I - 2nd Lieutenant C.W. Betzenberger was my great-grand uncle. He was the first Betzenberger in my family lineage to be born in this country. Neat image of the PA Monument, unfortunately I could not copy his plaque but I have a previous tracing. Errol Betzenberger

I just tripped across this today, how cool that you posted it! Jacob Smith, Company C, was my g-g-g grandfather. He mustered out at Cold Harbor, and was a member of the GAR later in life. I work on the conservation project of artifacts from the USS Monitor, and wonder sometimes if he saw our little ironclad when they were boarding and disembarking from troop transports off of Newport News and Hampton (Fort Monroe). It's a neat connection and continuity.

My mother was a Jury. Her father; first names escapes my ole brain married Nora Moore and they had 5 children & lived in Lecontes Mills, PA. My mom raised her brothers & sisters by herself because for some reason that Mom never told me; he mother left Clearfield; I think Mom said it was something to do with the father. Mom told us that her father helped to lay down railroad tracks somewhere in Clearfield & I am wondering if he would have had anything to do with this gentleman you speak of or any other Jury of prominence from Clearfield. Just wondering if you would have any info about the Moore family as I believe they were interesting as well. I still have cousins who live in Clearfield; one of them being Judy Jury Clark who lives in Frenchville, I believe. Any info you can render me would be wonderful. I really enjoyed reading this article; thanks for sharing it!

Interesting comments on the brothers from New Jersey. There were another set of brothers in the regiment, my gr gr grandfather, Captain John Landis Jefferies, and his brother from Lancaster PA, Captain Robert McClure Jefferies, KIA Petersburg, June 15th 1864.. There are no known unit pictures of the 115th, but I have several CDVs of unit members. Mostly officers, none of your family. But I am always hunting for 115th items.

Today, May 2nd, is an historic day for the Regiment, tomorrow, 150 years ago, they were in the fight of their lives........
