Civil War Records in the Published Schuylkill County Archives Series – Volume 2

Posted By on June 5, 2013

Today’s blog post provides information on Volume 2 of a series of books published beginning in 1995 by Closson Press, titled Schuylkill County Pennsylvania Archives.  In all, three volumes were published through 1996.  The series was based on genealogical research done by: Phillip A. Rice, a specialist in church and cemetery records; Jean A. Dellock, a specialist in courthouse and census records; and Dr. Glenn P. Schwalm, a noted researcher and authority on early German-American records.  The records included in the series were edited and compiled mainly by Rice and Dellock, with written permission from Dr. Schwalm where his material was included.  Each volume contains a variety of items including cemetery lists, mining reports, and church records.  Each volume also contains a significant amount of material related to the study of Civil War veterans and military regiments and companies from Schuylkill County.  There is a surname index that is included for each volume.

The three volumes are available for sale by Closson PressVolume 1Volume 2; Volume 3.

Volume 2 includes the following items (note that specific Civil War items and items related to specific communities within the geographic area of study for the Civil War Research Project are presented in boldface type):
