Elizabethville Veterans Monument

On a curve in the road at the eastern entrance to the main street of the Borough of Elizabethville, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, lies the headquarters of the Paul L. Spicher Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post No. 6343. On the lawn outside the post building is the Elizabethville Veterans Monument. This monument is unusual in that it is one of two monuments in the borough dedicated to the memory of all veterans. The other monument, located at the headquarters of the American Legion Building just off the center square of the borough was the subject of a prior post on this blog.
The monument inscription reads “In memory of all veterans.”
The Civil War veterans are specifically recognized with a bronze G.A.R. star and flag holder.
Adjacent to the V.F.W. building and monument is the Elizabethville Borough Park.
The artillery pieces in the park are from later wars and help to frame the setting which honors all veterans.
